"I can't believe I waited this long to finally get a massage," I thought to myself while melting into a deep tissue treatment at the Feel Harmony Spa nestled within Cancún's Live Aqua resort (ya'll, it was so good that I actually fell asleep for a second and woke myself up with a tiny snore, #noshame). Seeing as how I tend to go months between massages — full-well knowing that I feel rejuvenated and healthier every time I actually do go — it's a phrase I tend to repeat to myself a lot.
I don't know about you, but it's sometimes difficult for me to categorize massages into the "health necessity" bracket. But, similar to getting my teeth cleaned or going to the gym, I have to remind myself that massages aren't just self-indulgent splurges. They're actually an important part of any wellness regimen, and our bodies are much better offwhen we invest our time (and yeah, money) into routine rub downs.
